What Players Can Expect for Fortnitemares 2021

Fortnitemares is making a comeback this 2021, and players are ready to get the spooky vibes that they’ve been looking forward to.

This is Halloween! This is Halloween! That’s right, it’s that time of the year again (which is arguably the best one). With spooky activities going underway, you bet that Epic Games is going to dip its toes into the Halloween season in Fortnite. And what better way for them to do it than to announce the return of the Fortnitemares event for 2021? As part of the annual Halloween celebration, Fortnite will also be running the third edition of its animated short film festival. Plus, there’s also going to be some Halloween-themed skins down in the Fortnite Item Shop for the cosmetic item collectors out there. After all, it’s not a Fortnite event if there’s no new skin to come with it! According to Epic Games, the creepy bash is set to be bigger than ever, with new content being released regularly throughout October. So just what can players can expect for Fortnitemares in 2021? Let’s find out!

A Spooky Film Festival

As we’ve previously stated before, there’s going to be an animated short film festival that players can opt to join on. Also known as the “Short Nite Film Festival”, this edition specifically takes a more… sinister turn. Epic Games decided to rename it “Shortnitemares” just for the occasion! Shortnitemares equates to “short nightmares”… get it? Anyways, the film festival will focus on animated shorts that are worthy of the most bloodcurdling horror movies. Unfortunately, there are no skins available for the characters that are in the films in the Fortnite Item Shop, but there is one in particular that we’ll be talking about later on.

There’s also going to be a virtual movie theater that was created by Quantum Builds. Each short film will have a theater room that’s specific to its theme. Sure, all of it is bound to be horror, but there are different sub-genres of horror. There are the jumpscare horror films filled with suspense such as Insidious, but then there are also ones that, while they might not necessarily make you scream, they’re downright disturbing and could haunt your mind for days on end. Thankfully, there’s no necessary order as to which film players ought to watch first or last as users will be able to choose the order in which they want the short films.

Ghosts and Iconic Halloween-Themed Characters Run Amok in Fortnite

Besides the film festival event that’s going on, players can celebrate the Halloween season in Fortnite more thanks to the themed maps, experiences, and games that they can partake in. All of these were specifically developed by the community, so you know that you’re going to have a fun time. There will be various, iconic Halloween-themed characters such as Frankenstein’s monster and the Mummy who will appear in the game throughout October. There’s no word yet on what other characters will be making an appearance, but who knows? Maybe Chucky might be there!

Oh, and there’s also going to be a new weapon coming out. We’re not yet sure what it is since Epic is keeping mum about it, but players can expect all sorts of new stuff including a bunch of new quests and a limited game mode that they’re set to reveal so, so keep your eyes peeled. That being said though, players can expect all of this to only be limited time. Meaning, they can only complete the quests, use the weapon in question, and/or play the limited game mode up until the end of October.

Rick Grimes JoinesFortnitemares 2021

Surprise, surprise! Who would’ve thought that The Walking Dead’s Rick Grimes will be joining the Fortnitemares 2021 event? Players can now purchase the Rick Grimes Outfit for 1,500 V-Bucks. There’s also the Rick Grimes bundle which costs about 1,900 V-Bucks which comes with the Crashin Satellite Glider, Sheriff’s Duffle Back Bling, and the Walker Club Pickaxe for those that are planning to complete the whole look. While this is Rick’s first appearance in Fortnite, he’s going to be joined together by returning Walking Dead stars Michonne and Daryl Dixon who also both have outfits. What’s more, players have the option to complete their Walking Dead skin collection by grabbing Rick, Daryl, and Michonne together with their accompanying items for just 2,500 V-Bucks which is a steal pricepoint.

Conclusion

With the trio of Walking Dead stars finally available in the Fortnite Item Shop for a limited time, fans of the show can finally play as their favorite character in Fortnite. The Fortnitemares 2021 is setting up to be quite the banger, and with more news underway as to how everything will go, there’s no room for doubt that long-time fans will surely have a fun and spooky time.
